How do I get cash from BrowardPawnShops.com?

You bring us an item or items of value to either sell us outright or borrow money against as collateral. Borrowing money on an item is called a pawn or loan. We evaluate your item and if we agree on a price, we pay you cash on the spot.

Where are BrowardPawnShops.com stores located?

Four of our five pawn shops are located on Federal Hwy (US1) as far north as Hillsboro Blvd and as far south as State Road 84. Each of those four stores are located about one mile from the beach and Atlantic Ocean. Our fifth store is located in Lauderhill on State Road 7 (441). All five pawn shops are located in what is considered some of the safest neighborhoods in South Florida.

How does a pawn or loan work?

Pawns are done on a 30 day (monthly) basis with a 30 day grace period (60 days). We loan you money and hold your item as collateral in a secure area. You can come back in 30 days or less to redeem (reclaim) your item when you repay the loan plus a fee (finance and service charge) or simply pay the extension fee and renew your item for another 30 days. There is no limit on how many times you can renew.

Will my pawned items be safe while you are holding them?

Yes. We store most pawned gold and jewelry items in a bank vault safe deposit box for the highest security possible. All our locations do have large TL rated safes for short term storage of gold and jewelry. General merchandise is stored on premise. All our locations have bullet proof glass and sophisticated security systems.

Are you insured?

Yes we are insured by Lloyds Of London.

What happens if I can’t reclaim my loan?

You are under no obligation to redeem your pawned item. After 60 days if you have not made an extension payment, by law the item is forfeited and becomes our property. It is then treated as if you sold us the item outright. This will not affect your credit nor will it affect your status withBrowardPawnShops.com. In certain circumstances, we will agree to extend the 60 day forfeiture period. This is done on a case by case basis. If needed, loan customers are encouraged to call us or email us to communicate that they may need more time.

What is your fee for a pawned item?

We charge between 5% and 25% per month as regulated by the State Of Florida. The amount we charge is based on the amount of the loan and the actual item itself. The physical size of an item is a factor. We may lower the fee if the item is redeemed in a shorter time period.

What form of payment do you accept?

Since we pay you in cash, we prefer to be paid back in cash. In some cases, when renewing a pawn, we sometimes accept credit cards, checks, money orders and bank wire transfers. Cash is almost always required when redeeming an item.

Can I get a quote over the phone?

Yes. We encourage you to call our nearest location to describe your item. We will, to the best of our ability, tell you what amount we may give you for that item. We will also be honest and tell you not to bring the item if we feel the item is not for us.

What items can I sell or pawn at BrowardPawnShops.com?

We take almost any item of value. Please click on LINK to see what are the most common items we accept. Please call our nearest location if you are not sure.

Is there a maximum or minimum amount of money I can get?

No. There is no minimum and we handle seven figure transactions. Large diamonds, gold/platinum jewelry, gold/platinum coins, certain watches and rare items can sometimes bring those larger amounts.

How does BrowardPawnShops.com determine an item’s value?

Our vast experience in the pawn business is one way. Most gold is based on what it weighs, what karat (purity) it is (9K, 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K, 24K) and what the price of gold is that day. Most platinum and silver is determined on a similar basis. Whether the item is designer jewelry, signed jewelry or custom made is a determining factor. Diamond values are determined by the 4C’s and the current market. Watch values are determined by the current resale market. General merchandise values are determined by the current resale market. The condition of an item (new or used) is a large factor in determining it’s value.

How do I know if my gold is fake or not?

We can test your gold free of charge by using an acid test. We accept any form of gold, whether it be jewelry (broken or not), coins or bars.

How do I know if my diamond is genuine?

We can test your diamond free of charge with our electronic diamond tester.

How do I know if my watch is genuine?

We can determine authenticity of most watches immediately. Sometimes it may be necessary to open a watch and inspect the movement to determine it’s authenticity.

Can anyone sell or pawn an item at a pawn shop?

No. You need to be at least 18 years old and have a government issued picture ID. Most common forms of ID are a drivers license, state ID, passport and green card. Other forms of ID are accepted. All purchases and pawns are described on a form and require a signature and thumb print per Florida State Law.

Will my business with BrowardPawnShops.com be confidential?

Yes. Other than reporting all pawn shop purchases and pawns to the proper agencies as required by Florida State Law, your business with BrowardPawnShops.com will be private and confidential. We understand that these are tough economic times and people may be embarrassed to come into a pawn shop. We purposely do not mail you notices knowing that could possibly present a problem at home. BrowardPawnShops.com will always treat you with dignity.

Is BrowardPawnShops.com under one ownership?

No. BrowardPawnShops.com is an alliance of five pawn shops with three separate owners. Each of the three owners have worked or currently work together and share the same philosophy when it comes to the pawn shop business.

Are pawn shops regulated?
